In 1595 William Shakespeare wrote a story that would go on to define love stories forever. But Romeo and Juliet idolises a fatal version of love, and so often contemporary re-tellings overlook the flaws of their matrimony. A relationship constituted on impulsiveness and lust would not stand the test of time. Monash Shakespeare Company’s reworking of Romeo and Juliet challenges this dangerous foundational myth.’
